HERS/HiS

In the age of the "selfie", the category of the portrait, and more specifically, the self-portrait, has come under intense scrutiny. More often than not, the selfie is a heavily filtered and manipulated, offering the outside world an image of the self stylized to correspond with socially agreed upon ideals. This series posits that the objects we gather and surround ourselves with, often figures which stand as surrogates for various dimensions of our personalities, and the physical traces we leave of our behaviors, reveal more about us that a conventional portrait would. In search of a less altered but perhaps more meaningful image of the self, Hers/His is an intimate portrait of myself, my husband, and our relationship.
